Cameroon: a bank card to pay customs duties through the GUCE
On 31 March 2026 in Douala, Visa, the Single Window for Foreign Trade Operations (GUCE), BGFIBank Cameroon and the fintech TrustPayWay officially launched a bank card dedicated to paying customs duties, integrated with GUCE systems to speed up the digitisation of customs clearance.

On 31 March 2026, in Douala, the four partners announced the integration of their respective systems around a new product, the Business GUCE x BGFIBank card, designed for Cameroonian economic operators to pay their customs duties electronically rather than in cash or by cheque.
This integration builds on the Single Window for Foreign Trade Operations (GUCE), which already centralises in Cameroon the formalities for declaration, inspection and the issuing of sector-specific import authorisations, and on Visa's payment network to make settlement more reliable and faster.
The publicly available material describes the launch of the scheme and its aims of modernising customs payments, without specifying at this stage whether use of the card becomes mandatory for all operators or remains an option offered alongside existing payment methods.
This affects importers and their freight forwarders clearing goods in Cameroon, particularly in Douala, who need to pay customs duties for an operation processed through the GUCE.
Kinachobadilika kwa muagizaji
For a Sorva client importing from China and clearing goods in Cameroon, this card can simplify and speed up the payment of customs duties once the assessment has been established by the GUCE, without changing the amount due or the declaration procedure itself. Sorva prepares the commercial documents expected by the GUCE, notably the invoice and packing list, but does not itself pay Cameroonian customs duties, which remain due from the importer or their customs broker.
