India: DGTR opens seven new anti-dumping investigations targeting Chinese products
Between 23 and 28 September 2026, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), under the Indian Ministry of Commerce, published seven separate notifications, each opening an anti-dumping investigation into a different Chinese product, following complaints filed by Indian manufacturers.

Between 23 and 28 September 2026, the DGTR opened seven separate anti-dumping investigations targeting imports from China. Four concern the pharmaceutical sector: Penicillin G and its salts, 6-aminopenicillanic acid (a manufacturing intermediate), Amoxycillin trihydrate and Montelukast sodium, all used as active ingredients or intermediates by the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
The three other investigations concern a tackifying resin based on para-tert-octylphenol formaldehyde, used in the tyre industry, T-section guide rails for lifts, and a copolymer polyol used in manufacturing foam for mattresses and bedding.
Each investigation follows the DGTR's usual procedure: a complaint filed by Indian producers in the sector concerned, formal opening by notification in the Official Gazette, then an inquiry that can, in the following months, lead to provisional and then definitive duties if dumping and injury to the local industry are confirmed.
This affects Indian importers of these seven categories of chemical, pharmaceutical and industrial products, as well as the Chinese manufacturers named in the complaints, who will have to respond to the DGTR's questionnaire within the set deadlines.
What it changes for an importer
For an Indian importer sourcing one of these seven products from China (pharmaceutical active ingredients, tyre resin, lift rails or foam polyol), the opening of the investigation signals a risk of provisional duties in the months ahead: it is best to plan ahead, document the exact supplier now, and monitor the procedure's progress before committing to large volumes. Sorva can help qualify alternative suppliers in China or elsewhere in Asia for these product categories, and prepare the origin documentation useful in the event of a check.
