Trade relations and customs framework with China
Algeria is not a member of the World Trade Organization: its customs tariff is set unilaterally, with no list of bound tariff commitments. The country has also ratified an association agreement with the European Union in September 2005, joined the Greater Arab Free Trade Area in 2009 and ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area in 2019, three agreements unrelated to China.

Mandatory documents and customs clearance
The customs clearance file brings together an invoice with bank domiciliation, a copy of the trade register, a copy of the tax card, a border control document, proof of origin, a detailed packing list, a conformity certificate from an independent third party, plus a mandate for a licensed customs broker. The Algerian Institute of Standardization, IANOR, created by executive decree 98-69, develops Algerian standards and issues conformity certificates and quality marks. Algeria bans the import of firearms and explosives, narcotics, around 350 pharmaceutical products whose list has not changed since 2015, certain medical equipment, all used equipment, genetically modified seeds and pork-based products.
