Without a technical file you are not buying a product: you are buying whatever the factory felt like making that month.

  • The file fixes the specifications, the dimensions, the bill of materials, the tests and the labelling, and it carries the declaration of conformity for the manufacturer to sign.
  • It is also what lets you change factory without starting again.
Scope of the study

Documentary and regulatory study. It is not an engineering calculation note and does not engage the liability of a certified engineering office.

What the file contains
  • Specifications: intended functions, materials, tolerances, finishes, packaging requirements.
  • Dimensioned drawings: definition drawings, dimensions, general tolerances, the views needed to build and to inspect.
  • Bill of materials: every component, its material, its reference, what is fixed and what is left open.
  • Test schedule: which test, against which criterion, at which stage, by whom, and what counts as proof.
  • Multilingual labelling: mandatory wording, warnings, instructions, texts ready to typeset.
  • A drafted declaration of conformity for the manufacturer to sign, with the schedule of documents to attach.

  • One product and one reference variant; other variants are listed without separate drawings.
  • Dimensioned drawings taken from the sample or the factory documents, with the general tolerances justified.
  • A test schedule tied to the texts that apply to the product and its markets.
  • Labelling and instruction texts in the languages of the markets you are targeting.

Not included
  • No laboratory testing: the file tells you which tests to commission.
  • No engineering calculation note and no signed drawings. Signed calculations are the work of a certified engineering office, which we can bring into the file.
  • Sorva does not sign the declaration of conformity: the manufacturer signs it, and the importer answers for it.
  • No trade mark, patent or compliance scheme registration in your name.
  • No 3D presentation renders: this file exists to build and to inspect.

Frequently asked

01Who signs the declaration of conformity?
The manufacturer. We draft it, list the documents to attach and pass it to the factory for signature. In the Union the importer remains responsible for the product it places on the market: the file exists so that it can answer for it.
02Are the drawings signed construction drawings?
No, they are definition drawings meant for manufacturing and inspection. Documentary and regulatory study. It is not an engineering calculation note and does not engage the liability of a certified engineering office.
03The factory already has drawings. Why mine?
The factory drawings serve the factory. Yours let you compare two quotes on the same basis, inspect the goods, and change workshop without starting again. It is a document you keep.
04Is it part of a package?
Yes, the technical file is delivered within level II, and therefore within level III. Bought on its own, it suits an importer who already has a factory and wants what they buy written down at last.
