Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2026-2027: dates, exhibitors, Shenzhen

Two separate shows cover consumer electronics in Hong Kong. The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, in Wan Chai. Its autumn edition runs alongside electronicAsia, focused on components, and its spring edition runs alongside the HKTDC International ICT Expo and the lighting show.

The second, Global Sources Hong Kong, takes place at AsiaWorld-Expo, near the airport, on Lantau Island: a separate venue, at the other end of the territory. The show splits into two phases, consumer electronics first, then mobile electronics, smart home and lifestyle. The two shows generally overlap on the October calendar, which allows both to be visited on the same trip, provided you plan the journey between the two sites.

The autumn edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair runs from October 13 to 16, 2026, complemented by an online matchmaking platform, Click2Match, open from October 6 to 23, 2026, and by a sourcing platform on hktdc.com active from September 13 to November 12, 2026. The spring 2027 edition is set for April 13 to 16, 2027, again at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, alongside, as in previous editions, the International ICT Expo and the lighting show.

Global Sources Hong Kong is held during the same October fortnight, in two phases: the consumer electronics phase from October 11 to 14, 2026, then the mobile electronics, smart home and lifestyle phase from October 18 to 21, 2026, both at AsiaWorld-Expo. The 2027 dates had not yet been published by the organizer as of September 26, 2026; the show returns each year in this same October window, which gives a forecast timeframe, without official confirmation value.

The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair brought together, at its 2025 edition, 2,898 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, and around 60,000 buyers from 142 countries and regions. The show organizes its halls by profile: Hall of Fame for established brands, RISE Avenue and Tech Hall for emerging uses, Startup Zone for young technology companies, RoboPark for robotics. This layout makes it easier to head straight to the hall matching your search.

Global Sources Hong Kong claims, across its recent editions, more than 2,100 Asian suppliers, more than 4,000 booths and more than 160,000 new products in phase 2. The October 2026 edition adds a dedicated pavilion for refurbished electronics, the HKICEC Global Mobile Exchange Pavilion, set up with the Hong Kong International Communications Electronic Chamber and bringing together more than sixty resellers whose phones are tested under the European WEEE directive, plus a space dedicated to Tencent's artificial intelligence ecosystem, with a summit devoted to AI agents.

The core difference lies in positioning: the HKTDC hosts established brands alongside young technology companies, while Global Sources presents itself more directly as a sourcing show with Asian manufacturers, with a strong focus on mobile electronics and smart home in phase 2.

Registration is done online, at hktdc.com/event/hkelectronicsfairae for the HKTDC show, and at globalsources.com for Global Sources. Both shows reserve access to trade professionals: Global Sources requires a minimum age of eighteen and recommends three copies of your business card at the entrance. Free online pre-registration for a trade visitor remains standard practice for HKTDC shows; confirm the exact fee, if any, on the registration page of the edition you're attending.

The border is crossed in a few minutes from West Kowloon station, which serves Futian directly by high-speed train: the journey takes around 15 minutes non-stop, on a schedule of around fifty trains a day between 7:01 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Hong Kong and mainland China immigration checks are grouped together at the same departure station, which simplifies the crossing compared with a conventional border post.

On the visa side, most European travelers need no extra steps: China has extended until December 31, 2026 its unilateral visa exemption for 45 countries, including France, which allows a 30-day visa-free stay for business purposes. For a shorter trip limited to Shenzhen, a five-day visa on arrival exists for other nationalities, but it confines the trip to Shenzhen territory alone, with no access to Dongguan or Guangzhou, where a large share of Guangdong's factories are located.

In practice, a common pattern is to visit the show or shows during opening week, then cross into Futian or Luohu for two to three days of factory meetings, particularly in electronics and components, industries heavily concentrated around Shenzhen and the Huaqiangbei district. Factory meetings should be scheduled before departure: a same-day, unplanned visit often results in an incomplete reception.

Booking a hotel at the last minute remains the first mistake: both shows are held at the same time, in an already tight hotel market, and rates rise as the date approaches. The second mistake is underestimating the journey between the two sites, Wan Chai and AsiaWorld-Expo: these are two opposite ends of the territory, to be treated as two separate days.

A third mistake concerns sourcing itself: prices quoted at a booth remain indicative, as at the Canton Fair, and do not replace verifying the Chinese company or getting a reference sample before ordering. A fourth mistake, more specific to electronics, is neglecting regulatory compliance before committing: CE marking, the low-voltage and electromagnetic compatibility directives, and restricted substances need to be checked upfront, not after the first container arrives.
