Port of Lomé: checks tighten at entry and exit of berths 1 and 2

From Monday 28 September 2026, the general management of the Autonomous Port of Lomé put in place tightened checks on conventional berths 1 and 2, with systematic searches of vehicles and rolling equipment and physical checks of personnel, both entering and leaving these quays.
Any vehicle, piece of equipment or person failing the checks is refused quay access. The general management justifies this arrangement by the wish to strengthen security on the conventional quays and step up the fight against cargo theft.
According to the port, this new arrangement introduces additional checks on operators' entry and exit movements, which the port authority says it wants to reconcile with keeping operations running smoothly.
This affects carriers, drivers and operators accessing berths 1 and 2 of the Port of Lomé to load or collect conventional cargo, as well as the freight forwarders who organise these movements on behalf of importers.
Kinachobadilika kwa muagizaji
For a Sorva client whose goods pass through the Port of Lomé, particularly on the conventional quays, this tightening of checks may slightly extend loading or collection time at peak hours, while the new procedures settle in. Sorva advises its clients active at this port to allow a time margin with their freight forwarder during this transition, without itself intervening in physical operations at the port, which remain the responsibility of the freight forwarder and the port authority.
